Today was our 2nd sea day in a row. We are now north of 40 degrees south latitude (and heading toward the equator). The wind has dropped significantly and the seas are smooth! Tonight we were blessed with a spectacular sunset.
Thirty-five passengers aboard are sailing the entire duration of this 66-day Longitudinal World Cruise. The Expedition Team frequently have special events for us "long haulers". Tonight they staged a Camp Out on the aft deck. They set up tents and created the illusion of camping in a remote location. The deck lights were turned off and we huddled around an artificial fire pit.
We enjoyed spectacular star gazing including seeing the southern cross. Then the Expedition Team regaled us with campfire stories based on their personal experiences of guiding groups in the Antarctic and other wilderness locations. By 10:30 PM the fresh air and (alcoholic) drinks had done their job and we were ready for bed.
